There’s a myth that the best designs come from total freedom. My experience says the opposite. Some of my most elegant work emerged under strict constraints. One client gave me just three brand colors, outdated fonts, and accessibility requirements stricter than WCAG 2.1.

At first, it felt impossible. But those limits forced structure. I reused components, clarified hierarchy, and built patterns that felt natural to users. The result? A clean, accessible, and unique experience that launched ahead of schedule.

Constraints narrow the field so that creativity has direction. Whether it’s brand guidelines, tech limitations, or tight budgets — boundaries push better thinking. They simplify decisions. They align teams. And they often lead to outcomes more intentional than those made with endless freedom.
